Introducing some of Salford's creative hubs, spaces and places

The Makers District

The creative heart of Salford. This area is home to artists, makers, independent organisations and creative businesses working across visual arts, music, design, printmaking, performance and more.

You'll find organisations including Islington Mill, New Islington Mill, Paradise Works and Hot Bed Press, alongside independent venues, studios and workspaces that help make this one of Greater Manchester's most important grassroots creative communities.

Salford Crescent

Where culture, learning and heritage come together. Home to the University of Salford, Salford Museum & Art Gallery, Working Class Movement Library and Walk the Plank, the Crescent combines education, research, heritage and creative practice in one of the city's most distinctive cultural districts.

Salford Quays & MediaCity

A globally recognised centre for creativity and innovation. Home to the BBC, ITV, MediaCity Studios, Lowry, Quays Culture and a growing community of digital, media and technology businesses, this is where major creative industries sit alongside public art, festivals, performance and cultural experiences.

Creativity Across the City

Creativity happens everywhere. Salford's creative scene extends far beyond its major venues, with some of its most exciting work emerging in local libraries, parks, community centres, schools, neighbourhood festivals and unexpected places across the city.

From Eccles to Swinton, Irlam & Cadishead to Little Hulton, local organisations and communities are creating opportunities for people to take part in creative activity close to home.

Salford's green and blue spaces also play an important role in the city's creative life. Places like RHS Garden Bridgewater, Buile Hill Park, Peel Park, Chat Moss and the waterfront at Salford Quays provide unique settings for festivals, performances, exhibitions and community activity.

Opportunities right across the city.

Whether you're looking to explore heritage, join a workshop, take part in a festival or discover local creative projects, you'll find opportunities right across the city.
