1838 Collective
1838 Collective is a non-profit organisation based at Islington Mill dedicated to supporting emerging and graduate artists. Founded by alumni of Manchester School of Art, the collective was established in response to the challenges artists face when transitioning from education into professional practice.
Blake, Aliya, Rebecca, Yasaman, Oriana, and Masi are the team behind 1838 Collective. Connected through their postgraduate studies in Fine Art and Painting, their practices span painting, printmaking, drawing, weaving, and textile art, reflecting a range of perspectives and backgrounds across England, Iran, Cyprus, and Spain.
Together, they organise exhibitions, workshops, and regular events that provide platforms for artistic development, building connection, peer support, and professional growth for emerging artists across Greater Manchester.
